Friday, November 8, 2002 | Men's Basketball
The Pi Kappa Phi squad of Mike Correnti, Brian Drolet, Bryan Abasolo, Ryan Smith and J.C. Smith upended Billy Donovan's squad to win the seventh annual Billy D Three-On-Three Challenge on Thursday evening.
The Pi Kappa Phi squad won the best of three series in two games, taking the opening game by a score of 11-5, while rallying from a 6-5 deficit in the second game to score the final six points and clinch victory with an 11-6 decision.
Donovan scored seven of his team's 11 points over the two games, as he was joined by men's assistant Donnie Jones and women's assistant coaches Michael Peck and Matthew Mitchell.
The victors will get to travel with the Florida men's basketball team on a road trip this season. The opponent has yet to be determined.
It marked the second straight year Donovan's squad fell in the final after winning each of the first five years of the event.
