Florida played its first home game at Fleming Field, the area just north of what is now Ben Hill Griffin Stadium-Florida Field.
UF defeated South Carolina 10-6, coming back from a 3-0 deficit at halftime thanks to a drop-kick field goal by Earle Taylor and a recovered fumble by the Gators defense in the Gamecocks end zone.
The decisive points came when Hoyle Pounds fell on the South Carolina loose ball in the fourth quarter for a touchdown.
The win was UF's first of the season. The Gators went on to post a 4-2-2 record in their fourth season under Coach G.E. Pyle and capped the campaign by beating Vadado Club, a Cuban team, 28-0 in the Bacardi Bowl at Havana.
Hmmmm, wonder what they celebrated with?
