PLANTATION, Fla. –Two members of the University of Florida men's tennis team will continue competition at the ITF USA F3 Future in Plantation, Fla. on Friday afternoon. Senior Diego Hidalgo and freshman Alfredo Perez have each won six matches to advance to the main draw quarterfinals.
Leading up to their respective round of 16 matches, Hidalgo and Perez had only dropped one set apiece in their qualifying and main draw matches. Hidalgo was able to defeat Juan Manuel Benitez Chavarriga, 7-6(1), 3-2 ret. Perez completed a gritty comeback win after a rain delay against Wil Spencer. The Gator freshman fell in the first set, 6-7, but was able to take the next two and the match, 6-7, 7-6, 6-4.
UF will continue play tomorrow afternoon in the quarterfinals.
