Florida held its eighth opponent under a .100 hitting percentage and tallied a 3-set season-high 58 digs
BATON ROUGE, La. – Led by double-doubles from redshirt sophomore setter Allie Monserez and junior outside hitter Carli Snyder, the No. 9 Gators notched their second consecutive sweep of an SEC foe, topping LSU, 25-15, 25-20, and 25-11.
Monserez logged a match-high 32 assists and a career-high 16 digs for her third double-double performance of the year. Snyder collected her team-best sixth double-double of the 2016 campaign with 12 kills and 10 digs.
Junior defensive specialist Caroline Knop (16 digs) also played a major role in UF's well-rounded passing performance. The Gators totaled 58 digs on the night, their highest total in a 3-set match this season.
Florida's effective passing led to yet another efficient hitting night (.314), while its defense held the Tigers to an .067 clip, marking the eighth time this season and second consecutive match in which it held an opponent under a .100 clip.
Freshman middle blocker Rachael Kramer (6 kills, .455 clip) and redshirt junior outside hitter Shainah Joseph (9 kills, .381 clip) posted UF's top performances of the evening in terms of hitting percentage.
WORDS FROM THE GATORS
Florida head coach Mary Wise's overall thoughts on the sweep…
"The story of the match was the serve-pass game, and our serve receive team did a tremendous job. From an offensive standpoint, it was the night of our left sides. Both Shainah (Joseph) and Carli (Snyder) had terrific nights."
Florida redshirt sophomore setter Allie Monserez on the Gators' sweep tonight….
"We had a good night. We passed really well. We worked on that a lot this week during practice, and we really did a great job of transferring it over. With the great passes, it made my job easy and just allowed me to distribute the ball. We got into more of a groove as the match went on, and everyone was working really well together."
Monserez on setting up Carli Snyder and Shainah Joseph so often tonight….
"With the great passes it was so easy to get the ball out to Shainah and Carli. They did a great job of putting it down. We were really working on our rhythm this week, and that really showed with the outsides tonight.
