GAINESVILLE, Florida – After playing a part in Florida's first and final goals in a 3-0 win at LSU, Gator sophomore
Melanie Monteagudo is the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office released this afternoon. This is the first such honor of Monteagudo's career.
She is the third Gator honored in this season, joining
Savannah Jordan (Week 1 – Offensive) and
Kaylan Marckese (Week 2 – Defensive).
The other players picking up weekly honors are Auburn's Sarah Le Beau (Defensive) and Vanderbilt's Kaylann Boyd (Freshman).
Monteagudo's Performance Friday:
The match scoring started and ended with a goal that Monteagudo played a part in, as Florida posted a 3-0 win at LSU. In the 10th minute, Monteagudo volleyed in the cross from
Sammie Betters in the 10th minute for her fifth goal of the season. Then in the 89th minute, she assisted on
Julia Lester's goal. It was Monteagudo's first assist of the season.
Her five goals stands second among the Gators in 2016 and she is also third with 11 points. Her three game-winning goals in 2016 is tied for third in the SEC (all games).

It's the Kicking for the Cure match, as the Gators play host to Georgia Thursday for Florida's annual breast cancer awareness match. School colors are set aside as the Gators wear
pink to show their support for the fight against cancer. Match time is 6 p.m. at the James G. Pressly Stadium and admission is free.
The first 500 fans at Thursday's match receive
pink sunglasses and 250 fans get
pink rally towels.
