The Gator pair is one win away from the final and an automatic bid to another national event.
PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – UF's doubles team of Brooke Austin and Kourtney Keegan won a tight thriller and advanced to the semifinals of the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships at the Riviera Country Club on Friday.
The Gator pair earned an 8-7 (3) victory against Southern California's Zoe Katz and Gabby Smith and advanced to the semifinals, where Austin and Keegan will play Pepperdine's sixth-ranked Luisa Stefani and Jean Runglerkriangkrai on Saturday.
It was a tough day on the singles court for the Gators, who certainly seemed to have their chances but couldn't seem to close out games.
Keegan played a pair of three-setters on Friday, first defeating UNLV's Carol Yang, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, before she ran into Southern California's Ena Shibahara and dropped a 0-6, 6-2, 6-2 decision in the quarterfinals. Keegan earned a late break in the third and went to the baseline to serve, down 5-2. She wasn't able to keep the match alive and ended her run at the national event.
Belinda Woolcock took down South Carolina's Ingrid Gamarra Martins, 7-6 (2), 6-2, in her round of 16 match to start the day, before she faced Ohio State's third-ranked Francesca Di Lorenzo. Woolcock opened strong, racing out to a 5-0 lead before Di Lorenzo stormed back by winning 13 of the next 15 games to take the 7-5, 6-2 outcome in the quarterfinals.
Anna Danilina continued singles action in the backdraw and rank into N.C. State's Martina Frantova, who haulted the Gator's run with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 decision.
Josie Kuhlman and Woolcock played in the backdraw on Friday against South Carolina's Berg and Cline.
