Second consecutive appearance for Savannah Jordan & Betsy Middleton on CoSIDA Academic All-America teams
GAINESVILLE, Florida – A duo of University of Florida seniors – Savannah Jordan and Betsy Middleton – again appear on the CoSIDA Academic All-America Women's Soccer team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Tuesday.
Florida was one of three schools to place a pair of players among the first and second Academic All-America teams. Jordan is part of the Academic All-America first team and Middleton repeats as a second-team selection.
A total of seven Gator soccer players have earned Academic All-America honors a total of 11 times since 1996.
Jordan, only the second player in UF history to earn All-Southeastern Conference first team honor four consecutive years, is eighth in the nation in points (41) and ninth in goals (16). Middleton has appeared in 21 matches and has provided the Gators with two assists. She is one of 13 among the three Academic All-America teams with a 4.0 grade point average. Middleton has maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout her academic career, which includes pre-college.
Both earned All-SEC Academic honors the last two seasons. Jordan also was a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-American in 2015. They will each receive their bachelor's degrees this December.
The pair are part of the Florida soccer team which posted a 3.39 grade point average in the 2014-15 academic year.
