After a rash of injuries, Florida has answers to find on each side of the ball.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- After a humbling 31-10 loss at Arkansas and a rash of injuries to key starters, Florida's depth chart heading into Saturday's game against South Carolina looks a bit different.
There's a change at quarterback following an injury to Luke Del Rio, as Purdue graduate transfer Austin Appleby and true freshmen Feleipe Franks and Kyle Trask will all participate in an open competition this week.
After starting three of the last four games at tailback for the Gators, Jordan Scarlett is now listed as the starter. Meanwhile, Lamical Perine, Mark Thompson and Jordan Cronkrite will all look to contribute on Saturday. At wide receiver, freshman Tyrie Cleveland, who recorded his first career start last weekend at Arkansas, is questionable this week which bumps up senior Ahmad Fulwood into the X-receiver spot.
With center Cameron Dillard ruled out for the next few weeks, sophomore Tyler Jordan will shift into his position leaving sophomore Fred Johnson to start at right guard on the offensive line. Johnson has started three games this season at right guard. However, this will be Jordan's first career start at center.
Defensively, sophomore Cece Jefferson is still listed on Florida's defensive line although he will be a "game time" decision on Saturday.
The biggest change on UF's stellar defense is at linebacker where veterans Alex Anzalone and Jarrad Davis have been ruled out this weekend. The Gators will look to Kylan Johnson, David Reese, Vosean Joseph, Cristian Garcia and senior Daniel McMillian to fill in.
