Florida Gymnasts No. 5 in 2017 Preseason Poll

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gator gymnastics team begins the 2017 season No. 5 on the national preseason poll, released today by The Road to Nationals site.
Florida has appeared among the preseason top five teams for 11 consecutive years (2007: 3rd; 2008: 2nd; 2009: 3rd; 2010: 4th; 2011: 3rd; 2012: 3rd, 2013: 3rd; 2014: 1st, 2015: 1st, 2016: 2nd, 2017: 5th).
Defending NCAA champion Oklahoma will open 2017 at the top of the preseason poll. Louisiana State and Alabama take the next two position while UCLA is No. 4.
Florida faces seven opponents in the 2017 poll, including four in the preseason top 10. Four of Florida's home dates feature an opponent among the preseason top 25 – No. 8 Auburn for the Jan. 27 Gators Link to Pink meet, No. 9 Georgia on Feb. 10, No. 19 Missouri on Feb. 24 and No. 21 Kentucky on Jan. 13. Florida is at No. 2 LSU on March 5, No. 3 Alabama on Feb. 3 and No. 17 Arkansas on Feb. 17
In 2016, the Gator gymnastics team claimed the program's 10th Southeastern Conference Championship and its fifth consecutive NCAA Regional team title. Florida placed fourth in 2016 NCAA Super Six competition. Four Gator All-Americans return this season - Kennedy Baker, Alicia Boren, Claire Boyce and Alex McMurtry.
Season tickets for the 2017 Gator Gymnastics campaign are now available. With the renovation of the Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center, the 2017 ticket options include a reserved seating plan. General admission is also available. Find more information at the Gator Ticket Office link or by calling the Gator Ticket Office at 1-800-34-GATOR from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
