"We wish Jordan nothing but the best and will do everything we can to support and assist him and help him get what he wants,'' Gators head coach Jim McElwain said.
Cronkrite rushed 31 times for 145 yards and a touchdown but as the season progressed, Scarlett and Perine emerged to get the bulk of the workload among the group.
Cronkrite joined the Gators in the 2015 signing class out of Westminster Christian in Miami, where he parlayed a productive career (3,000-plus yards rushing, 33 touchdowns) into a spot in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
He carried 44 times for 157 yards and three touchdowns as a freshman, his best game coming in a win at South Carolina when he rushed for a score and caught a 41-yard touchdown pass.
According to 247Sports.com, Cronkrite hopes to enroll at a new school by the start of the January semester.
