Sam Horsfield Honored as SEC Golfer of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Winning his first collegiate title at the Sea Best Invitational led University of Florida freshman men's golfer Sam Horsfield to be selected as the Southeastern Conference Golfer of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.
Horsfield carded a career-best 7-under 203 to win the Sea Best Invitational by three strokes and become the first Gator freshman to bring home an individual title since Billy Horschel tied to win the NCAA Regional Championship in 2006. Horsfield opened the tournament with a 5-under 65, the third-lowest freshman round in school history. His 65 contributed to the Gators' opening-round -15 (265), which tied for the lowest team round in Florida history. Horsfield was named to The Ben Hogan Award Watch List on Wednesday as well.
This week's SEC Freshman Golfer of the Week accolade went to Arkansas' Charles Kim.
Up Next: The Gators will host their lone home tournament of the year, the SunTrust Gator Invitational, at the Mark Bostick Golf Course Feb. 20-21.
