BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Sophomore Taylor Tomlinson of the No. 12 University of Florida women's golf team was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week on Wednesday by the conference office.
Tomlinson led the Gators to the team title and won a share of the individual title at the 36-hole Florida Challenge on Feb. 1. At the spring-opening event, she scored her third under-par tournament total of the season, a 3-under 141. This week, Tomlinson finished tied for 20th at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, for her fifth top-20 finish of the season with a score of +8 (221).
Her individual titles at both the Cougar Classic and at the Florida Challenge make Tomlinson the only SEC golfer with two collegiate wins this season.
The Gainesville, Fla., native, has competed in the Gators' lineup in every tournament this season and is tied with teammate Maria Torres for the lowest stroke average on the team of 72.29.
Up Next for the Gators: Florida will get a break before traveling to New Orleans, La., for the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Championship on Feb. 21-23, hosted by Tulane.
