The Orange and Blue secured the doubles point on Friday night with the No. 2-ranked tandem of Diego Hidalgo and Gordon Watson defeating the No. 64-ranked pairing of Marko Krickovic and Edward Nguyen, 6-1. On court three, Chase Perez-Blanco and Alfredo Perez took down Max Hinnisdaels and Joseph Van Dooren, 6-2 to clinch the point for UF.
Florida would sweep the singles play as junior captain Elliott Orkin clinched the match on court two over #82 Marko Krickovic, 6-4, 6-4. UF is now 7-4 in the 2016 season and will take on Arkansas next Friday night at the Ring Tennis Complex at 5 p.m.
Coach Shelton's Thoughts
On the match results tonight…
"It was nice to see us respond back the right way and to come ready to play. I think it really showed in the last few days of preparation for this match. Our guys came ready to practice every day and work hard. That Texas A&M match was certainly disappointing but just so good to have a match win like this tonight. Every match in the SEC is very tough. Auburn is a very good team and a very well-coached team and they came in here with a lot of fight. For our guys to respond the way they did, and just push them back and each time Auburn had a chance to put a point on the board, we didn't allow it to happen. I was just really proud of our guys for their effort and play tonight."
Final Results
#25 Florida 7, #64 Auburn 0
Doubles-Order of Finish: 1, 3*
Attendance: 237
