AUBURN, Ala. – Merriam-Webster has two definitions for the word accomplishment:
- Something done, achieved, or accomplished successfully
- A special skill or ability gained by practice or training
The first applies to Florida head coach Tim Walton after he earned his 700th career win last night in a 6-3 win over Auburn.
However, Walton prefers the second definition.
"Seven hundred is a lot of wins and each and every one is really special," Walton said. "I think about all the fun times I've had in the dugout with Jennifer Rocha, Jenny Gladding, Sondra Hall, Kenny Gajewski, Stacie Pestrak, Coy Adkins, Jeff Dabney, Kristen Butler, Mary Ratliff, Kelsey Bruder, Kristina Hilberth, Caleb Sorgius, Brittany Souilliard, Seth Misunas, Doug Chance and now Sharonda McDonald and Doug Mirabelli."
The 14-year coaching veteran has gained lifelong relationships through those countless practices and training sessions.
This gift proves exactly that.

What does 700 wins mean on the field?
Two NCAA Championships, four SEC Championships, seven Women's College World Series appearances, eight NCAA Super Regional bids and 11 NCAA Tournament selections.
Quite a list of accomplishments.
Following last night's victory at Auburn, the Cerritos, Calif. native is 700-185 in his coaching career, which currently ranks 13th in softball history in winning percentage (.791) and fourth amongst active coaches.
In addition, Walton ranks 39th in wins in NCAA history and is the 39th coach in collegiate history to win at least 700 games in his career.
Wins and losses will come and go, but Walton's special bond with all his student-athletes, fellow coaches, friends and family that helped him reach this point will with him forever.
"It's been better than a job," Walton said in closing. "I've made great friendships and I've been lucky enough to be around some wonderful players that have bought into what we're preaching as a staff and as a program. I'm so proud of all the players that have contributed to this over so many years.
"It's really special and I can't thank them enough."
