Sam Horsfield Named to Team Europe for Arnold Palmer Cup

NORMAN, Okla. – University of Florida freshman Sam Horsfield was selected to compete in the Arnold Palmer Cup as a member of Team Europe, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Friday. Gator Associate Head Coach John Handrigan will be the assistant coach for Team USA.
The Arnold Palmer Cup is an annual Ryder-Cup style competition that features 20 top college golfers and will be played over the weekend of June 24-26 at the Formby Golf Club in Formby, England. The top six golfers in the final Arnold Palmer Cup standings automatically qualified for their respective teams. Team Europe added two committee selections, a coaches' pick and the winner of the The R&A Foundation Scholars Tournament, while Team USA supplemented the automatic qualifiers with three committee selections and a coaches' pick. Horsfield earned his spot on the team by landing atop the final Team Europe rankings.
