Diego Hidalgo defeated two Top-10 UVA opponents in doubles and singles on Wednesday night at the Ring Tennis Complex

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 14 University of Florida men's tennis team fell to the No. 3 Virginia Cavaliers on Wednesday night at the Ring Tennis Complex. The Gators are now 12-5 in the 2016 season with four matches remaining in the regular season.
The Gators jumped to a 1-0 lead by securing the doubles point with exciting wins on courts one and three. Alfredo Perez and Chase Perez-Blanco defeated Aragone and Altamirano, 6-4 on three. The No. 3-ranked senior tandem of Diego Hidalgo and Gordon Watson clinched the doubles point with their defeat of the No. 2-ranked duo of Shane and Corinteli, 6-4.
Singles action saw the Orange and Blue fall on five courts to give Virginia the match victory. Hidalgo got the lone singles victory over No. 7 Ryan Shane in a three-set 7-6(3), 5-7, 6-4 victory.
UF travels to Athens, Ga. on Friday night for a contest with the No. 7 Bulldogs at 5 p.m.
