Grassel Ties for 20th at NCAA Championship

EUGENE, Ore. – Junior Kelly Grassel completed the fourth and final round of stroke play at the 2016 NCAA Women's Golf Championship on Monday. Competing as an individual after finishing the third round as one of the top nine golfers on a non-advancing team, Grassel carded a -1 (71) Monday to finish tied for 20th with a tournament score of +1 (289).
Grassel wrapped up the stroke play portion of the tournament with 59 pars, which led the field. Her tie for 20th marked her eighth top-25 finish of the 2015-16 season and is the highest individual finish by a Gator in the NCAA Championship since Andrea Watts finished tied for 15th in 2011.
The Orange and Blue finished one of its best seasons in recent history, winning seven team tournament titles, five individual tournament titles, the second NCAA Regional title in program history and the first Southeastern Conference Golfer of the Year (Maria Torres) award since 1990.
The individual national champion was Virginia Elena Carta from Duke University after carding a -16 (69-68-66-69-272). The top eight teams advance to match play on Tuesday and Wednesday.
