
Junior Maria Torres was named an Honorable Mention All-American on Tuesday

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – University of Florida junior Maria Torres was named a 2016 Honorable Mention All-American on Tuesday by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA).
Torres had one of the most decorated seasons in recent history, recording 10 top-25 finishes and two tournament wins, including the Southeastern Conference Championship. Her 72.03 stroke average was the lowest single-season average in school history. She became Florida's first SEC Women's Golfer of the Year since Lisa Hackney in 1990. She was also named to the 2016 Baton Rouge All-Region Team by the WGCA after finishing tied for seventh place.
This is the first time a Gator women's golfer has been named to a WGCA All-American Team since Camilla Hedberg was also an Honorable Mention in 2013.
The WGCA uses the following criteria when selecting All-American Teams:
