Thursday night's 200 IM race highlighted the final time Ryan Lochte and Michael Phelps would face off in the pool. Phelps, the most decorated Olympian of all time with 26 medals, got the best of Lochte this time, winning yet another gold at 1:54.66. Lochte finished fifth at 1:57.47, closing out his Olympic schedule as the second-most decorated male Olympian swimmer with 12 medals (he had passed Mark Spitz for this honor with the United States' win in the 4x200 free relay earlier in the Games). Four-time Olympian Lochte is also tied with Gator great Dara Torres as Florida's winningest Olympian.
Dan Wallace also swam in the final, finishing 8th at 1:58.54. Wallace had previously earned his first Olympic medal in Rio as a leg of Great Britain's second-place 4x200 free relay team.
Barring any appearances in the men's and women's 4x100 medley relays, no Gators are scheduled for any events for Friday's heats.
