GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Summer ball has concluded and all the Gators are back in town to start the fall semester. A trio of Gators helped their teams win league crowns, while three more made history in Cuba with the Collegiate National Team.
Here's a look at how the returning Florida baseball players fared this summer.
Team USA Collegiate National Team
Three Gators helped Team USA finish with an 11-7-1 record on the summer, including the Collegiate National Team's first ever series win in Cuba to wrap the tour. Faedo Alex Faedo was the standout, as he tied for the team lead with 21 strikeouts and had just three walks in 16 innings pitched. He finished the summer with a 3-0 record and 0.56 earned run average.
Shortstop Dalton Guthrie and catcher Mike Rivera struggled at the plate, but provided steady defense throughout the tour in a bunch of low scoring games. Guthrie hit .191 (9-for-47) and scored eight runs while making just two errors in 19 games at shortstop.
Rivera was 2-for-22 at the plate in 13 games but gunned down seven of 11 base stealers and made no errors behind the plate.
Cape Cod Baseball League
Bourne Braves Danny Reyes (stats) played in 20 games and hit .200 (11-for-55) for the Braves. He had five doubles, a home run and five RBI. The Braves finished 21-21-2 and made it to the second round of the playoffs.
Harwich Mariners (finished No. 10 in Collegiate Summer Baseball Rankings) Jonathan India (stats) hit .290 for the Mariners during the regular season with four RBI and seven doubles. He also stole five bases and had 10 walks. Harwich made the playoffs but lost in the first round.
Falmouth Commodores (finished No. 2 in CSB Rankings) Brady Singer (stats) finished off a fantastic summer with a scoreless start in which he tossed six innings with just three hits allowed. In six total appearances, he allowed just two earned runs in 28 innings (0.64 ERA) with 25 strikeouts and three walks.
Teammate Deacon Liput (stats) heated up late in the summer with a 12-game hitting streak and finished with a .305 average (32-for-105) with four doubles, three home runs and 18 RBI. He hit .406 (13-for-32) in eight playoff games.
Falmouth made it to the Championship Series of the playoffs but lost the deciding game after splitting the first two.
Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox (finished No. 1 in CSB Rankings) JJ Schwarz (stats) hit .207 (6-for-29) in limited action with the Red Sox with one home run and five RBI this summer. The Red Sox went on the win the Cape league, although Schwarz returned to Florida prior to the finish of the season.
Northwoods League
Kenosha Kingfish Blake Reese (stats) played in 42 games for the Kingfish and his .259 (45-for-174) with 13 doubles and 19 RBI. He also scored 26 runs and had 14 stolen bases.
Lakeshore Chinooks Nick Horvath (stats) mostly saw action on the mound this summer with the Chinooks, making 16 appearances with a 3.06 earned run average in the regular season. He had 13 scoreless outings and totaled 32 strikeouts in 30 innings pitched. At the plate, he hit .282 (4-for-14) with three runs scored and two RBI.
Madison Mallards Nelson Maldonado (stats) is batted .298 (37-for-120) with 11 doubles and four home runs for the Mallards, who earned the No. 2 seed in the division for the playoffs with a 43-29 record.
On the mound, Michael Byrne (stats) made eight appearances with six starts and had a 4.35 earned run average. He racked up 46 strikeouts in 31 innings of work with nine walks.
New York Collegiate Baseball League
Olean Oilers (finished No. 11 in CSB Rankings)
Mark Koloszvary (stats) and Eddy Demurias (stats) both played key parts for the Oilers as they claimed the 2016 NYCBL title this summer. Olean finished with a 39-7 regular season record and swept through the playoffs with a 4-0 record.
Koloszvary played in 25 games and finished with a .337 average (30-for-89) and 28 RBI on the summer, including nine RBI in four playoff games. He had 10 doubles, three home runs and 15 walks for the Oilers.
Demurias made six pitching appearances and saw action in 17 games in the field. On the mound, he finished with a 0.77 earned run average with 15 strikeouts in 11.2 innings. At the plate he hit .288 (17-for-59) with 16 RBI. In three playoff games, he hit .385 (5-for-13) with eight RBI and four runs scored.
Florida League
Altamonte Springs Boom Christian Hicks (stats) hit .258 (25-for-97) with 15 RBI on the summer for the Boom and played in the Florida League All Star game. In the playoffs, Hicks was 4-for-14 (.286) and had a home run and three RBI. The Boom took home the Florida Collegiate Summer League title with a 5-4 win in the championship game.
Texas Collegiate League
Brazos Valley Bombers (finished No. 3 in CSB Rankings) MacGregor Hines (stats) was outstanding this summer for the Bombers on the mound. He made 10 appearances, including seven starts, and had a 1.15 earned run average in 46.2 innings pitched. Hines had 43 strikeouts and a perfect 5-0 record as the Bombers finished 48-7 and first in the league and won their fourth-straight TCL Championship.
