Monserez Picks Up Second SEC Setter of the Week Accolade

For the second time this season, Allie Monserez is the SEC Setter of the Week for her success in running the Gators' high-powered offense.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida redshirt sophomore setter Allie Monserez continues to impress. For the second time in three weeks, Monserez was tabbed the SEC's Setter of the Week after the Gators' stellar offensive efforts at the Blackbird Invitational in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Monserez, who averaged 12.60 assists per set in sweeps of Denver and LIU Brooklyn, was named to the Blackbird Invitational All-Tournament Team after quarterbacking UF to its second (.437) and third (.389) best hitting efficiencies this season against Denver and LIU Brooklyn, respectively. The No. 8 Gators improved to 6-1 on the season, have five straight sweeps and enter Wednesday's Fresh From Florida Sunshine Showdown at No. 13 FSU riding a six-match win streak.

Monserez, who entered the weekend of play first in the SEC and 16th in the NCAA in assists per set, kept it rolling in Brooklyn. Her 11.79 assists per set still lead the league through the first three weeks of the season. Behind her efforts, Florida hit .412 on the weekend and sits atop the SEC in hitting efficiency (.370) so far in 2016.
