Jordan Belga Sweeps Draw; Gators Wrap Up Duke Invite

Cary, N.C. – The University of Florida men's tennis team wrapped up its first tournament of the season Sunday, and Jordan Belga impressed through all three days of competition. The junior swept the singles competition in his bracket, winning the title this morning.

Belga and freshman teammate David Sarkissov also dominated in the doubles competition. Although they lost their first match in the BLUE draw, they continued on in the consolation bracket to defeat Auburn's Laubser/Sarrio, earning them the second place title.

Joshua Wardell also started his 2016 season off on the right foot, earning his first ranked win on day one of the tournament. Wardell and his doubles counterpart Stephen Madonia lost their first doubles match, but fought to take third place in the WHITE consolation draw.

Joshua Wardell earned his first career ranked win, defeating No. 80 Jack Findel-Hawkins (UNF) 7-6, 3-6, 7-5.
Jordan Belga picked up a ranked win on the same day, defeating No. 111 Jeffrey Schorsch (Valpo) 6-3, 7-5
Freshmen Stephen Madonia and David Sarkissov both won their last matches of the tournament, earning Madonia the 13^th spot in the BLACK Consolation draw and Sarkissov 15^th place in the WHITE Consolation draw. They each won two matches in their first career tournament.
