Gators Release Depth Chart for Kentucky Game
Monday, September 5, 2016 | Football, Scott Carter
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Florida depth chart has a different look for Saturday's game against Kentucky.
The changes reflect the loss of slot receiver Dre Massey for the season with a knee injury suffered in Saturday's season-opening win against UMass, and the return of cornerback Teez Tabor and tight end C'yontai Lewis. Tabor and Lewis served one-game suspensions against UMass for a physical altercation between them during preseason camp.
With Massey out, junior Brandon Powell is atop the depth chart at slot receiver (Y-receiver), where freshman Freddie Swain is listed as the backup, and the Z-receiver position, where senior Ahmad Fulwood is listed second on the depth chart.
Meanwhile, Tabor returns to his starting spot opposite Quincy Wilson at cornerback. He is backed up by junior-college transfer Joseph Putu. Duke Dawson, who started at corner in the opener, is atop the depth chart at nickel. Dawson suffered a shoulder injury in the first half of the season opener and did not return.
He was replaced by Chris Williamson, who is listed No. 2 on the depth chart at nickel.
The Gators are dealing with another key injury at strong-side linebacker, where senior Daniel McMillian started the opener. McMillian injured his ankle and appears questionable for Saturday's game. He remains on the depth chart as the starter along with freshman Jeremiah Moon.
In addition, with Massey out, starting X-receiver Antonio Callaway will return kickoffs with Powell.
