GAINESVILLE, Fla.—The Florida football team has added Eastern Washington to the 2020 schedule, the two schools announced on Wednesday. The game will be a one-time arrangement with the Eagles, who will be playing a Southeastern Conference opponent for the first time in school history. The game is scheduled for September 5
th at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

The matchup provides a special connection for Gators head coach
Jim McElwain, who starred as Eastern Washington's quarterback from 1980-83 and spent the first 10 years of his coaching career in Cheney, Wash. He graduated from EWU in 1984 with a degree in Education.

 "This is pretty cool to be able to add Eastern Washington to the schedule," said McElwain. "I spent 15 years at Eastern and it is such a huge part of my life. I met my wife, Karen, there and all of my children were born there. I have so many great memories of my time at Eastern and I still have friends there to this day."
