Rhamat Alhassan tied the school record for career block assists (502) this past weekend
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Three-time All-American Rhamat Alhassan was named the Southeastern Conference Co- Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Alhassan totaled 13 blocks in Florida's pair of wins last weekend, tying Benavia Jenkins' (2000-03) school record for career block assists (502). The Glenarden, Md., native recorded six blocks in the No. 4 Gators' sweep of Alabama, and added seven in a four-set win at Auburn.
For the season, Alhassan is averaging 1.72 blocks per set, which leads the SEC and ranks third nationally.
Alhassan also contributed 14 kills and amassed 20.5 points in Florida's wins last weekend.
The Gators (16-1, 8-1 SEC) continue league play Friday and Sunday against South Carolina and Mississippi State. Friday's match inside Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center will be the annual "Dig Pink" match. Sunday's matchup will be in Starkville, Miss.
