GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida hosts Southeastern Conference rival LSU in The Swamp on Saturday. Adding to the magnitude of this huge contest, it's Homecoming weekend and the Gators are 2-3-1 against the Tigers when facing them on this special weekend.
UF has played an SEC opponent for homecoming in 20 out of the past 21 seasons, including twice against LSU (1996, 2006).
Florida is 25-3 on Homecoming Weekend since 1989 and 67-24-2 in such games in school history.
Overall, Florida is meeting LSU for the 64th time, meanwhile Saturday marks their 31st clash in Gainesville and first since 2014.
Here are some details of those activities.
- Gator Gallop, Friday, 11:15 a.m. The 2-mile family friendly fun run takes place on the UF campus, starting at Pressly Stadium and ending at the Plaza of the Americas. Pre-registration is $15 and goes to $20 on race day. To sign up, go here.
- Homecoming Parade, Friday, noon. Immediately following the Gator Gallop, NCAA Champion Coaches Mike Holloway and Roland Thornqvist will serve as co-grand marshals and lead the line of floats, spirit squads and mascots down University Avenue.
- Gator Growl, Friday, 6 p.m., Flavet Field. Rapper Snopp Dogg will headline a night of entertainment, along with a performance by Daya. Also on the program will be a performance from spirit squads, a salute to the 2017 national championship men's track and field team, women's tennis team, baseball team, plus the 2017 football team will make an appearance. In addition, Athletic Director Scott Stricklin will attend this event.
- UF vs. LSU, 3:30 p.m., Steve Spurrier-Florida Field (CBS). Florida continues its three-game home stand with LSU this weekend. With a win against the Tigers, UF would improve to 4-0 in SEC play for the fifth time (2006, 2009, 2012, 2015) since 2000. In addition, a victory would mean that UF has defeated LSU in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 2008-09. Tickets for #LSUvsUF are still available.
