GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Gators took a hard hit from LSU on Saturday in a 17-16 loss.
Several players remain sidelined as Florida opens practice Monday afternoon in preparation for Saturday's home game against Texas A&M.
Gators head coach Jim McElwain said Monday that senior safety Nick Washington will miss the Texas A&M game due to a recurring shoulder injury he re-aggravated against LSU. In addition, defensive back Chauncey Gardner (ankle), linebacker Jeremiah Moon (ankle), offensive lineman Brett Heggie (concussion protocol), receiver Tyrie Cleveland (ankle) and receiver/quarterback Kadarius Toney (shoulder) will not practice Monday and remain questionable for Saturday's game.
Florida (3-2, 3-1) hosts Texas A&M (4-2, 2-1) at 7:15 p.m. in the Aggies' first trip to Gainesville since 1962.
"This is nothing new,'' McElwain said. "It's part of playing in this conference."
Toney's absence would be a significant loss for Florida's offense since he took several snaps at quarterback out the "Wildcat" formation to provide a different look for LSU's defense.
Meanwhile, Cleveland's high-ankle sprain kept him out against LSU and the Gators mustered only 108 yards through the air without their leading receiver.
The Gators also lost special teams standout Garrett Stephens on Saturday. Stephens was taken off the field on a cart with a knee injury.
