12th time since 1999-00 Florida in top-10 to begin the season
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida is ranked eighth in the Preseason AP Top 25, as announced Wednesday afternoon.
This marks the 12th time since 1999-00 that the Gators have been ranked inside the top 10 to open the season.
Florida has only been ranked higher in the preseason media poll four times in program history (first in 2006-07, sixth in 2001-02, seventh in 2002-03 and seventh 2014-15).
The Gators, who were also ranked seventh in the Preseason Coaches Poll, return seven players off of last year's Elite Eight team including their leading scorer in KeVaughn Allen (14.0 ppg). Florida was picked to finish second in the SEC Preseason poll while Allen was chosen as an All-SEC selection.
