Shainah Joseph's massive senior day nets her an award for the week
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Fifth-year senior right side Shainah Joseph was named Co-Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Joseph hit .431 with 28 kills and only three errors last week, in addition to 11 blocks and seven digs. The highlight of the two-match week came Sunday, which was senior day in Exactech Arena / Stephen C. O'Connell Center. The Ottawa, Ontario native tallied 20 kills and two errors on 34 swings, registering a .529 hitting percentage. Joseph's 20 kills and 21.5 points were both career highs.
Joseph also set a career high for blocks in Friday's win over Arkansas, notching eight.
In Florida's last seven matches (24 sets), Joseph is hitting .430 with 82 kills.
The Gators (22-1, 14-1 SEC), who lead the SEC by a half-game, travel to College Station, Texas to face Texas A&M Wednesday night. ESPNU will televise the match, while Tom Collett will have the radio call for ESPN Gainesville 98.1 FM / 850 AM.
