Men finish Day 1 in first place with 300 points, women second with 235.5 points.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 3/14 Gators wrapped up the first day of competition at the Purdue Invitational with the men in first place with 300 points and the women recorded 235.5 points for second place. The women are just 22.5 points off first-place Indiana.
Two Gators won individual events on the night, beginning with Khader Baqlah, who claimed another victory this season, finishing first in the men's 500 freestyle with a B-cut time of 4:16.87. The Gators took the first five spots in the A final, with Baqlah, Andrew Brady, Ben Lawless, Blake Manganiello and Santiago Corredor going 1-2-3-4-5.
Caeleb Dressel took home first in the 200 IM, posting an A-cut time of 1:40.61. This time currently stands at the fastest in the nation and ninth fastest in history, breaking Purdue's pool record. Jan Switkowski followed with a B-cut time of his own, finishing second with a 1:42.58.
The UF men's A relay won the 200 FR, finishing with an A-cut time of 1:16.67. Caeleb Dressel put down an A-cut split of his own, going 18.66.
Day 2 of the Purdue Invitational begins at 10 a.m. with the 400 IM. Diving will follow at 1 p.m. and the finals session is set to begin at 6 p.m.

How it Happened – Swimming Finals
- Florida women's A relay of Emma Ball, Sherridon Dressel, Bella Garofalo and Kelsey Dambacher finished third with a time of 1:30.72.
- The UF men's A relay of Caeleb Dressel, Jan Switkowski, Mark Szaranek and Enzo Martinez-Scarpe won the 200 free relay with a time an A-cut time of 1:16.67.
- Taylor Ault finished with the best time in the 500 free for the women, posting a B-cut time of 4:44.00 to put her fourth overall. Savanna Faulconer (B-cut, 4:44.67) and Kelly Fertel (4:48.62) finished fifth and eighth, respectively, to close out the swimmers in the A final.
- Khader Baqlah won the men's 500 free, posting a B-cut time of 4:16.87. Andrew Brady followed in second with a B-cut of 4:18.60, while Ben Lawless (4:18.66), Blake Manganiello (4:21.99) and Santiago Corredor (4:22.05) went 3-4-5, all recording B-cuts. Taylor Delk (4:23.61) and Clark Beach (4:23.73) finished seventh and eighth to round out the A final.
- Erge Gezmis also grabbed a B-cut in the men's 500 free, finishing ninth overall with a time of 4:24.28.
- Kelly Fertel posted a B-cut time of 1:59.45 in the 200 IM A final, followed by Savanna Faulconer in eighth with a time of 2:01.67.
- Hannah Burns (2:00.18) and Sydney Sell (2:01.44) each recorded a B-cut as well.
- Dressel won the 200 IM with the fastest time in the nation, posting an A-cut of 1:40.61. Jan Switkowski followed in second with a B-cut time of 1:42.58. Mark Szaranek (B-cut, 1:44.50), Maxime Rooney (B-cut, 1:45.84) and Grant Sanders (B-cut, 1:46.04) finished fifth, seventh and eighth, respectively.
- Alex Lebed (1:46.94), Santiago Corredor (1:48.17), Brennan Balogh (1:48.06) and Marco Guarente (1:48.73) also each posted B-cuts in the 200 IM finals.
- Sherridon Dressel finished fourth in the women's 50 free, posting a B-cut of 22.77. Ball followed in seventh with a time of 23.03. Kelsey Dambacher finished third in the B final, registering a B-cut time of 22.95.
- Enzo Martinez-Scarpe was the lone Gator in the A final for the 50 free, posting a B-cut of 19.77.
- The Gator women's A relay of Ball, Dani Keymont, Dressel and Maughan finished second in the 400 yard relay, posting a time of 3:38.01.
- Florida 's men closed out the night with the A relay of Michael Taylor, Dressel, Switkowski and Baqlah taking second in the 400 medley relay with an A-cut time of 3:07.42.

- B – Gezmis

- D – Quinn, Mahaffey
- Seven men swam B-cuts times in the 500 free: Baqlah (first, 4:18.37), Lawless (second, 4:20.51), Manganiello (third, 4:21.25), Brady (fourth, 4:21.79), Delk (sixth, 4:24.00), Corredor (sixth, 4:24.00) and C. Beach (eighth, 4:24.10).
- Five UF women made finals in the 200 IM:
- A – Fertel, Faulconer
- B – Burns
- C – Sell, Scheriger
- Three women recorded B-cut times: Fertel (fourth, 1:59.69), Faulconer (fifth, 1:59.71) and Burns (2:00.84).
- 13 men made finals in the 200 IM:

- B – Lebed, Palazzo

- Seven men registered B-cuts in the 200 IM: Dressel (first, 1:43.98), Switkowski (second, 1:44.23), Sanders (third, 1:45.14), Rooney (fourth, 1:45.24), M. Szaranek (fifth, 1:45.58), Lebed (11th, 1:47.27) and Palazzo (13th, 1:48.58).
- Five women made finals in the 50 free:
- A – Ball, Dressel
- B – Garofalo, Dambacher
- C – Maughan, Tori Bindi
- Ball (second, 22.62) and Dressel (seventh, 22.86) both recorded B-cuts in the women's 50 free.
- Seven men made finals in the 50 free:
- A – Martinez-Scarpe
- B – Taylor, Toth, Heath
- C – Margotti, Main, J. Szaranek
- Dressel (exhibition, 19.17), Martinez-Scarpe (second, 19.62) and Rooney (exhibition, 20.08) all recorded B-cuts in the 50 free.
- Brooke Madden finished second in the women's 3-meter final with a score of 286.05. Emma Whitner was close behind, finishing third with a mark of 285.40.
- Dalton Goss (259.90) and Alex Farrow (215.00) finished 15th and 16th, respectively in the 1-meter prelims.
- Brooke Madden (fourth, 293.25) and Emma Whitner (eighth, 285.30) both qualified for the finals session.
- Brianna Felegi finished 24th with a score of 199.40 and Boni Trinter recorded a mark of 194.00 for 26th.
- "We had a good day. Pleased to see how well everyone responded this early in the season. Still lots of room for improvement but good racing by the group."
- "We are definitely looking to improve on the men's side the next two days by using what we learned on the first day. Alex and Dalton are usually stronger on 3-meter and platform, so with some confidence we can get in a couple finals."
- "The highlight of today was Brooke and Emma going 2-3 on the 3-meter. Emma is getting better each meet and although Brooke wasn't quite at her best, she is learning to compete very well. Her improvement has been dramatic. A slightly subpar performance today is considerably better than her best score this time last year. She is continuing to raise the bar."
- The Gators return to the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center Friday at 10 a.m. for the start of the preliminary session.
- Diving will take place at 1 p.m. and finals for both swimming and diving are to follow at 6 p.m.
