
Multiple Postseason Honors for Townsend

Townsend earned second team honors, while Pineiro was selected third team All-America
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Redshirt senior Johnny Townsend earned another honor on Tuesday, as he was named second team All-America by Sporting News. He and redshirt junior Eddy Pineiro were also named to the Associated Press All-America Teams, as announced on Monday. Townsend earned a spot on the AP's second team, while Pineiro earned third team accolades.
Townsend – a first team AP All-SEC and second team Coaches All-SEC selection – earned second team All-America honors after recording 3,043 yards on 64 punts this season. His average of 47.55 yards per punt led the SEC and put him second overall in the nation. The redshirt senior booted 27 punts inside the 20-yard line, while also registering 27 punts of over 50 yards. During the course of his final season with the Gators, he moved into first place in UF program history for total yards (11,090) and total punts (240).
Pineiro, who was also an AP and Coaches second team All-SEC selection, garnered third team All-America honors after finishing the regular season with the highest field goal percentage in the nation. He made 17-of-18 attempts this season, good for 99.4%. The redshirt junior ended the year making 16 straight field goals, putting him second in UF history for most consecutive field goals made. Through two seasons, Pineiro has converted on 38-of-43 attempts, putting him first in UF's history with a total field goal percentage of 88.4%. Pineiro set another UF program record this season, becoming the first Gator to make two 50-yard field goals in one game (UAB).
