SEC Gymnastics Weekly Honors – Feb. 28, 2017
SEC Gymnast of the Week: Alex McMurtry, Florida
SEC Specialist of the Week: Rachel Slocum, Florida
SEC Freshman of the Week: Amelia Hundley, Florida
This is the second such honor of the season for Hundley and the first such honor for both McMurtry and Slocum. McMurtry's been honored by the SEC eight times during her career as she's picked up Specialist of the Week seven times (including twice in 2017).

McMurtry's Performance:
McMurtry scored a 10.0 on floor exercise last Friday in just her second performance on the event this season and the seventh floor performance of her career. It was her first win on floor of her collegiate career. She also shared the evening's vault title with Slocum with a nearly perfect 9.975 for her Yurchenko double. McMurtry was runner-up on balance beam at 9.925.

The 10.0 was McMurtry's fifth of her career, as she owns perfect marks on three events (three bars, one vault and floor). She is the second Gator to earn a perfect mark on three or more events. Only Gator Great Bridget Sloan has recorded a collegiate 'Gym Slam' (a 10.0 on each of the four events).

McMurtry leads the 2017 Gators with 11 events titles – five bars, three vault, two beam, one floor.

In the current Road to Nationals rankings, McMurtry is No. 6 in vault (9.920 – RQS), No. 3 (9.930) on bars and No. 9 on beam (9.90).

Slocum's Performance:
Slocum shared the vault title versus No. 13 Missouri with McMurtry. Slocum equaled her collegiate-best of 9.975 for the second time of the last three meets. It was Slocum's fourth consecutive vault win and fifth of the season. She also set her collegiate floor best of 9.925.

Slocum has been consistent on vault this season, with seven of her eight performances for her front handspring pike-front half twist vault scoring a 9.925 or better.

In the current Road to National rankings, Slocum is No. T1 on vault (9.940 RQS).

Hundley's Performance:

Hundley turned in the nation's third-highest all-around total of last weekend – 39.625 – and the top total among SEC competitors to win her second collegiate all-around title. Her total shares the No. 15 highest total among the nation's competitors of 2017. Among the SEC all-arounders, that total is second behind teammate Alicia Boren's 39.725 and equals the league's highest among freshmen all-arounders.

She also matched her collegiate-high of 9.975 to win her second consecutive bars title (and third overall) of the season. Hundley took second on floor with a collegiate best 9.95 and set her collegiate-best of 9.875 on vault. She has won five event titles in 2017 – three bars and two all-around.

In the current Road to Nationals rankings, Hundley is No. 6 in all-around (39.475 – RQS), No. 6 on bars (9.915) and No. T23 on floor (9.885).

Hundley is a current member of the U.S. Senior National Team and finished ninth in the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials.

UP NEXT FOR THE GATORS:
A trophy is on the line in the nation's top dual meet of the weekend. No. 3 Florida is at No. 2 Louisiana State for a rare Sunday afternoon meet. For the first time in 2017, the SEC is awarding a regular-season gymnastics champion (based on regular-season win-loss results). LSU currently leads the SEC standings with a 6-0 record and Florida is second at 5-1. A win or tie gives LSU the 2017 SEC title. A Florida win would have the 2017 SEC title shared between the Gators and LSU.

Meet time is set for 3:30 p.m. ET in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Sunday, March 5 and the meet airs live on the SEC Network.

You can also find the meet on the SEC Network +.
