Maria Torres leads the Gators after the first day of the Gator Invitational
Florida Shines in First Two Rounds of SunTrust Gator Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gators sit atop the leaderboard following the first two rounds of the Suntrust Gator Women's Golf Invitational. Florida posted a five-over (565) on Saturday, finishing with a seven-stroke lead over the 13-team field.
The Orange & Blue carded a 285 (five-over) in Saturday's first round, which was the fourth-lowest total in Invite history.
Senior Maria Torres paced the Gators as she stands in second place overall at one-under (139). Meanwhile, Taylor Tomlinson and Marta Perez both sit inside the top-five. Tomlinson is in third place at one-over (141) and Perez is tied for fourth at two-over (142).
In addition, Kelly Grassel and Karolina Vlckova each finished in the top-10 as they finished tied for seventh (three-over, 143) and tied for ninth (four-over, 144), respectively.
Vlckova is competing as an individual this weekend.
Sam Wagner ended Saturday just outside the top 10, as she sits in a tie for 12th at six-over, 146.
UF enters Sunday's final round looking to win its annual home tournament for the seventh time in the last 11 years.

On Florida's first two rounds…
"I saw a lot of solid play from just about everyone. Overall, I am very pleased as it's a hard golf course. The scores are over-par for each team, but that is to be expected from this course. Individually, we handled ourselves very well. I was pleased with our management. There were a few execution mistakes but that is going to happen. The things we can control, we did well, like management and controlling our emotions."
On Sunday's final round:
"I saw a couple people that wanted to make a few more putts today. I hope we see that tomorrow. More than that, I would really like to see them be patient the whole day. If we do that and play our game, then we will play well."
