McElwain Releases Injury Report Following Spring Camp
Wednesday, April 12, 2017 | Football
As of now, Florida will have just three student-athletes reevaluated prior to its fall camp in August.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Despite the University of Florida being hit with a brash of injuries throughout the 2016 season, Jim McElwain became the first coach in league history to lead his team to the SEC Championship Game in his first two seasons as head coach.
With the Orange & Blue Debut last Friday night marking the end of Florida's spring camp, it's time for the Gators to get healthy and gear up for the 2017 season.
In regards to various injuries that were disclosed throughout the spring, only three of the 22 student-athletes who were limited at one point during the spring are not currently on track to be cleared for the start of fall practice. Those three student-athletes include DE Jordan Sherit, WR Rick Wells and TE Harry Gornto, as they will be reevaluated closer to camp and their status could change prior to the team's first practice.
In other injury news, quarterback Kyle Trask had minor knee surgery on Wednesday and is expected to make a full recovery in four weeks, while linebacker Camrin Knight had right knee surgery on Wednesday and will have his left knee operated on in May.
They will both be ready by fall camp.
Moral Stephens, Joseph Putu, Tyrie Cleveland and Duke Dawson all suffered minor injuries during last Friday's spring game, but will rehab and be recovered soon.
