Robinson to Forgo Senior Season for NBA Draft
Friday, April 14, 2017 | Men's Basketball
Devin Robinson has announced his intention to forgo his senior season and enter the 2017 NBA Draft.
"This decision was not easy for me; in fact, it was one of the hardest decisions I have ever faced," Robinson wrote in a letter addressed to the Gator Nation posted on his Instagram account on Friday. "I will be leaving a place that has become my second home."
Robinson scored 935 points in 105 career appearances, never missing a game, and had five career double-doubles. The Richmond, Va., native came up big for the Gators with 24 points in their first-round NCAA Tournament win vs. East Tennessee State this season, matching his career high. He also had 24 in UF's record-setting win at LSU, including a career-best five 3-pointers.
"We'll miss Devin here, but he'll always be a part of the Gator family," head coach Mike White said. "We're excited for Devin as he continues to pursue his dream and grateful for his role in helping reestablish the culture and success of the Florida basketball program."
"I know I am ready for this next step and I am personally excited for all the new challenges that will be presented with this decision," Robinson wrote. "I will always cheer on and be a huge supporter of the University of Florida. I will forever be a Gator."
After Robinson's decision, the Gators still await word on John Egbunu's future. While Egbunu has taken steps to test the NBA Draft waters, he has not yet made a final decision and has kept the door open to return.
