Yanis David logged an NCAA lead, while Grant Holloway collected a pair of NCAA top fives
FORT WORTH, Texas – The Gators continued their outdoor campaign with seven NCAA top-25 times and marks, along with a pair of Florida All-Time Top 10 marks on a windy Saturday (April 15) at the Horned Frogs Invitational.
One of those top 25s was an NCAA-leading triple jump by sophomore Yanis David, who posted a top mark of 13.92 meters (45 feet, 8 inches). Though it was wind-aided, David leads all collegiate jumpers by 24 centimeters on the national descending order list. Additionally, she joined Georgia's Keturah Orji (2015-16) as the only other underclassman since 2010 to eclipse 13.90 meters prior to the NCAA Preliminaries.
The Lamentin, Guadeloupe native also posted a wind-legal jump of 13.78 meters in her sequence, moving her to No. 2 on Florida's All-Time Outdoor Top 10.
This year's NCAA Indoor Championships long jump winner KeAndre Bates posted the No. 2-ranked mark in the nation (8.13 meters / 26 feet, 8.5 inches). It was Bates' career-best all-conditions jump within a collegiate season.
Also in the long jump, Grant Holloway logged a wind-legal mark of 8.04 meters (26 feet, 4.5 inches), the No. 3 mark in Division I and the second-best wind-legal collegiate mark of the year. Holloway joined Arkansas' Raymond Higgs (2011) as the only other Division I freshman since 2010 to clear 8.00 meters prior to the NCAA Preliminaries.
Holloway ranks No. 7 on UF's All-Time Outdoor Top 10.
The Chesapeake, Va. native also ran the No. 3-ranked 110-meter hurdles time in the nation, a wind-aided 13.51 seconds. Holloway joins collegiate all-time No. 2 Devon Allen (Oregon) and 2016 Olympic gold medalist Omar McLeod (Arkansas) as the only other freshmen since 2010 to break 13.55 prior to the NCAA Preliminaries. Both Allen (13.47) and McLeod (13.50) broke that time in wind-legal fashion during the 2014 season.
Other Gators to post national top 25s were Clayton Brown (triple jump), Aaron Owens (pole vault), and Skylar Ross-Ransom (100 hurdles).
