Fitzgerald Earns BIG EAST Defensive POW Honors

Tuesday's honor marks the second of the season for Fitzgerald.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – University of Florida senior defender Caroline Fitzgerald was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, as announced by the conference office.

Fitzgerald shadowed Temple's Morgan Glassford, and limited her to just one goal before checking out of the game midway through the second half. The senior collected three ground balls, won one draw control, and caused one turnover in the Gators' 15-5 win, marking the Owls' lowest scoring output in BIG EAST play this season.

With her three ground balls, Fitzgerald became Florida's all-time leader in the category with 143 in her career.

The Gators clinched at least a share of their third consecutive BIG EAST regular-season title with the win at Temple, and are guaranteed a top-two seed in the BIG EAST Championship.
