Final Road Trip on Tap for Gators

The Gators had a season-long, nine-game win streak snapped on Tuesday night, but have won seven-straight SEC games. The Crimson Tide are coming off a weekend sweep at in-state rival Auburn.
GAINESVILLE, Fla.--The Florida baseball team will hit the road for the final time this weekend, traveling to Tuscaloosa for a three-game series at Alabama.

The Gators had a season-long, nine-game win streak snapped on Tuesday night, but have won seven-straight SEC games. The Crimson Tide are coming off a weekend sweep at in-state rival Auburn.

The series opener is Friday at 7 p.m. All three games this weekend will stream live on SEC Network+ via the WatchESPN app. Sunday's finale will air live on SEC Network at 4 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY

Florida and Alabama are tied at 57-57 in the overall series. The Gators have won five-straight series -- including three sweeps -- against the Tide and nine of the last 11 series.

  • Florida has gone from worst to first in the span of eight weeks in the SEC. After starting 0-3 in league play, the Gators have gone 16-5 with four-straight series wins to take sole possession of the SEC East lead -- tied with Mississippi State for the overall lead with a 16-8 conference record.
  • After scuffling in March with a .235 batting average and scoring 4.5 runs per game (11-8 record), the Gators have picked it up. UF went 12-4 in April and hit .279 as a team with 5.3 runs per game. So far in May, Florida is 5-1 with a .320 average (64-for-200) and 8.0 runs per game.
  • Sophomore Michael Byrne tied the school record for saves in a season, picking up his 12th and 13th saves of the year against Ole Miss. He shares the record with Shaun Anderson (2016), Josh Fogg (1998) and Danny Wheeler (1994).
