
Gators Earn National No. 1 Seed For Third Consecutive Year

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Gators softball team will host an NCAA Regional for the 15th consecutive season at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. The team found out their placement as the national No. 1 seed during tonight's selection show on ESPN 2.
Joining Florida in the Gainesville Regional will be Oklahoma State (35-23), FIU (45-13), Florida A&M (23-30 - 1).
In its 18th year overall of hosting an NCAA Regional and 12th under head coach Tim Walton, Florida will host the double-elimination event this Friday through Sunday.
As the top overall seed in this year's tournament, the Gators will have the opportunity to host an NCAA Super Regional should the team prevail out of the Gainesville Regional. The team would then face the winner out of the Tuscaloosa Regional.

- The Gators hold a 35-18 record overall at the NCAA Regionals and have won 12-straight games dating back to when the team fell 1-0 to No. 22 USF May 20.
- The last 10 NCAA Regional games won by Florida have been by way of shutout.
- This is the fifth time overall that the Gators have secured the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament (2008, 2009, 2015, 2016 and 2017). It's the most times a program has received the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Softball Tournament since 2005.
