LEXINGTON, Ky. – Five of the eight Gators with a chance to clinch an NCAA Outdoor Championships berth did so Thursday (May 25) at the NCAA East Preliminary. Florida also saw 10 student-athletes qualify for Friday (May 26) finals.
Four of the Gators' Eugene tickets were punched by long jumpers, with KeAndre Bates and Grant Holloway doing so for the men, and Darrielle McQueen and Yanis David nabbing them for the women.
Bates, the indoor NCAA champion, and Holloway went 1-2 on a cool, damp evening. Bates' top jump of 8.15 meters (26 feet, 9 inches) set his all-conditions personal record. Holloway was one of two freshmen to make the cut, doing so with a top mark of 7.87 meters (25 feet, 10 inches).
David earned her second straight trip to Eugene with a mark of 6.39 meters (20 feet, 11.75 inches) and a ninth-place finish.
Redshirt senior javelin thrower Marija Vucenovic rounded out the Eugene qualifiers, securing the fourth trip of her career. Her best throw of 53.80 meters (176 feet, 6 inches) ranked second in the competition.

McQueen took fifth, leaping to a personal record and improving her No. 3-ranked mark on Florida's All-Time Outdoor Top 10 (6.55 meters / 21 feet, 6 inches). This is the third consecutive year the junior qualified for NCAA Outdoors in the long jump.
