Florida Posts Strong First Round Score at NCAA Columbus Regional

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Florida women's golf team sits atop the leaderboard after the first round of the NCAA Columbus Regional Championship. Florida has a two stroke-lead over the field at nine-over (297).
Marta Perez led UF on the first day of competition, as she finished the day in a tie for fourth at one-over (73). The freshman is three strokes off Purdue's Marta Martin-Garcia, who is atop the individual leaderboard.
Meanwhile, Kelly Grassel is tied for seventh after carding a two-over (74). Maria Torres and Taylor Tomlinson also sit inside the top-15, as they are tied for 12th at three-over (75).

"We had a solid start. I'm happy with the way we responded to the challenges of the course and the conditions. We will continue to compete hard the next few days."
On how the course played today…
"The course and conditions were tough today, but overall we stayed patient and determined. This golf course teaches you a lot about yourself and your game. We are gaining valuable experience."
