Fifteen Gators Named to SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A dominant 15 Florida lacrosse players were among 77 University of Florida student-athletes named to the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll on Monday by the league office. The Gators' 15 lacrosse selections are the most among all of UF's spring sports.
Five of Florida's eight seniors finished their careers by being named to the Academic Honor Roll. Two of those seniors, Sammi Burgess and Carli Marsh, graduated cum laude. Burgess and Marsh are now both pursuing a law degree, at Penn State and Miami (Fla.), respectively.
The Gators were also dominant on the field in 2017. Florida swept both the BIG EAST regular season and tournament titles to win the program's seventh straight conference championship. The Orange and Blue finished the season with a 17-3 record, collected three IWLCA All-America honors, 10 All-BIG EAST honorees, and four of the six major BIG EAST postseason awards.
The 2017 SEC First Year Academic Honor Roll is scheduled for release Wednesday.
To be recognized for the SEC Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must meet the following criteria: 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letterwinner or have participated on a varsity team for two years if non-scholarship; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
