Gators Earn IWLCA Academic Squad Status

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Following up on an impressive 22 Gators being named to the Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll last month, the University of Florida women's lacrosse team was recognized by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) as a Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad for the 2016-17 academic year.
To qualify for IWLCA Academic Squad status, a team must post a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA for the entire academic year. Florida's team GPA in 2016-17 was a 3.16.
The Gators have garnered IWLCA Academic Squad status in each of their eight seasons (2010-Present).
In addition, Sammi Burgess and Carli Marsh were both named to the 2017 IWLCA Zag Sports Division I Academic Honor Roll for the second consecutive year. The talented duo graduated Cum Laude from Florida in May, and are both pursuing law degrees beginning this fall.
Burgess and Marsh were two of 402 female Division 1 women's lacrosse upperclassmen to have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.
Overall, Florida has had 17 athletes earn 29 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll honors in the eight-year history of the program.
