Gator Reads: Ticket Sales Up, Impact freshmen, more on Gators

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Since the December morning in 2013 when it was announced the Gators would face Michigan to open the 2017 season at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, the clock toward kickoff has steadily ticked away years and months.
Now it's down to days. Twenty-three to be exact. Remember what then-UF Athletic Director Jeremy Foley said of the game, a radical diversion from season openers during his tenure?
"You don't get these opportunities very often,'' he said. "It would give us great national visibility. Obviously, a very difficult ballgame against a storied program — that excites us."
Three years and eight months later, Gator Nation is beginning to get really excited. Signs the game is near pop up daily, such as Thursday when the SEC Network announced it would broadcast its pregame show live from Florida-Michigan tilt.
As fans and media turn their attention to the game, the Gators are busy preparing for the top-20 matchup. The Gators took their first day off in preseason camp on Wednesday but return to the field this afternoon.
