Sweden has advanced to the quarterfinals.
TAIPEI CITY, Taiwan – Newcomer Paulina Hersler and her native Sweden defeated Chili, 82-39, and improved to 2-1 in Group A preliminary play at the World University Games held in Taipei City, Taiwan.
Playing its third game in as many days, Sweden opened action at the international event with an 85-57 victory against Hungary before falling to Chinese Taipei, 65-58, on Tuesday.
Hersler has started all three games for Sweden, which has qualified for quarterfinals and will return to action on August 25 against Japan.
Hersler is a 6-foot-3 graduate transfer from UCLA who has one season of eligibility remaining and will suit up for the Gators in 2017-18.
Hersler has already taken summer classes at Florida and departed Gainesville on August 4 for Sweden to begin preparations for the international event.
