Gators Ranked No. 5 in IWLCA Preseason Poll

2018 marks the sixth season that UF has been ranked inside the IWLCA Preseason Top-5.
Gainesville, Fla. – The University of Florida lacrosse team will begin the 2018 season ranked No. 5 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association poll, as announced Monday.

UF will open the season on Sunday, Feb. 11 against No. 17 Colorado at Donald R. Dizney Stadium. Florida is set to face seven teams currently ranked in the IWLCA top-25: No. 1 Maryland, No. 3 North Carolina, No. 7 Syracuse, No. 10 Navy, No. 17 Colorado, No. 19 Towson and No. 25 Loyola.
BIG EAST rival Denver also received votes in the Preseason Poll. The Gators and Pioneers square off in Denver on April 21.
The Gators were also ranked No. 5 in the Inside Lacrosse Preseason Rankings, and were unanimously selected to Win a Fourth Consecutive BIG EAST Title last week. Haley Hicklen, Allie Pavinelli, Shayna Pirreca, Sydney Pirreca, Lindsey Ronbeck and Cara Trombetta garnered All-BIG EAST Preseason honors, with Hicklen and Ronbeck tabbed as the BIG EAST Preseason Defensive and Offensive Players of the Year, respectively.
Last season, Florida went 17-3 overall and 9-0 in the BIG EAST to win the program's seventh straight conference title, and third straight BIG EAST title. The Gators would go on to earn the No. 3 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.
