Bates, Holloway Land on The Bowerman Preseason Watch List

NEW ORLEANS – Senior horizontal jumper KeAndre Bates and sophomore hurdler, jumper and sprinter Grant Holloway were named to The Bowerman Men's Preseason Watch List, as announced Tuesday afternoon by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The Bowerman is collegiate track and field's highest honor, and it is awarded each year to the top male and female athlete. Ten studenth-athletes were named to The Bowerman Men's Preseason Watch List.
Bates was a 2017 semifinalist for The Bowerman, in addition to being the 2017 USTFCCCA National Indoor Field Athlete of the Year. The Texan captured three NCAA and SEC titles, as well as five All-America honors last season.

In his first year as a collegian, Holloway blossomed into one of the most versatile athletes in the world, becoming the eighth freshman semifinalist in The Bowerman's history. The Virginian won a pair of NCAA titles, an SEC title, and earned seven All-America honors in his debut season with the Gators.

- First man in Division I history to log top-2 finishes in both 110 hurdles and long jump at NCAA Outdoor Championships
- First freshman in Division I history to sweep indoor 60 hurdles and outdoor 110 hurdles NCAA titles
- Third freshman in Division I history to win the 110 hurdles NCAA title (Devon Allen, Oregon, 2014; Dedy Cooper, 1976, San Jose State)
- Second Division I freshman since at least 1999 to win the 60 hurdles NCAA title (Omar McLeod, Arkansas, 2014)
- Split 43.89 seconds anchoring Florida's 4x400 relay to the No. 10-ranked time in school history (3:02.16) and a fourth-place finish at NCAA Outdoors
- Split 44.81 seconds running second and helping the Gators to the 11th-fastest 4x400 relay time in collegiate history and a runner-up finish at NCAA Indoors
- 2017 SEC Indoor and Outdoor Freshman Runner of the Year
