Benjamin Lobo Vedel broke his country's 300 meters record last Saturday
NEW ORLEANS – Freshman quarter-miler Benjamin Lobo Vedel tied the fourth-fastest 300 meters time in collegiate history Saturday, earning him United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division I Men's National Athlete of the Week honors, as announced by the organization Tuesday morning.
Lobo Vedel, a native of Aalborg, Denmark, clocked a time of 32.80 seconds in his first collegiate race. Here are the accomplishments that put his time in perspective:

- Tied Grant Holloway's school and facility records—both of which were set at the 2017 Orange & Purple Classic
- Broke the Danish 300 meters record—no indoor record was listed, but the outdoor national record was 33.07 seconds, set by Nick Ekelund-Arenander in 2013
