Florida falls in three sets to Kentucky at the Memorial Coliseum

LEXINGTON, Ky. – In a showdown of the top two teams in the SEC, Kentucky came out victorious on Wednesday night.
Kentucky claimed the first set, 25-15, then topped Florida, 25-18 in the second frame. The Wildcats stopped the Gators' run in the final frame, winning 25-20 to take the match.
Florida drops to 19-5 on the year and 10-2 in the SEC.
Rachael Kramer paced the Gators' offense during the evening, finishing with 11 kills and a .500 hit clip. Paige Hammons pitched in nine kills of her own, while Morgyn Greer followed with a season-best five.
Allie Monserez recorded a team-best 14 assists and Marlie Monserez dished out 13 of her own during the match. A. Monserez also recorded 11 digs, bringing her to her 10th double-double this season.
Allie Gregory controlled the defense in the backcourt, posting 21 digs – one shy of her career-high.
The Gators return to action on Sunday for a SEC matchup with Arkansas in Exactech Arena. The match will air on the SEC Network and first serve is slated for 4 p.m.

How It Happened
- Kentucky got out to the early 6-2 lead in the first set and controlled the frame from that point forward. UF got within six points at 17-11, but could not chip the deficit any more than that. The Wildcats went on an 8-4 run to secure the first set.
- Florida only hit .051 in the first set, but Rachael Kramer recorded five kills in the frame on a .556 hit clip.
- The Gators were within two just before the midway point in set, trailing 11-9. Kentucky then went on a 9-1 run to take the 20-12 lead. Florida was able to chip away at the Wildcats' lead, coming within six at 24-18, but Kentucky closed out the frame with a kill to go up two sets to none.
- UF hit .143 in the second set, led by four kills from Paige Hammons. Rachael Kramer and Morgyn Greer both recorded two kills in the set.
- Kentucky held the advantage during most of the set after forcing Florida into five hitting errors. Florida trailed 24-15, but with set point on the line, Morgyn Greer went on a four-point service run to bring the Gators to within four at 24-20. Kentucky closed out the frame with a kill by Leah Edmond – her 16th of the night.
- Florida hit .125 in the final set, with Rachael Kramer leading the way with four kills.
- Rachael Kramer led the offense with 11 kills, her eighth match in double-figure kills
- Morgyn Greer posted a season-high five kills
- Allie Monserez led the team in assists for 22nd time this season – she also recorded her 10th double-double of 2018
