Florida is ranked 15th in the second College Football Playoff rankings of the season.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida hosts South Carolina in their final Southeastern Conference game of the season on Saturday at 12 p.m. inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Both squads enter the contest at 4-3 in league, so the outcome of this contest could determine the type of bowl game each program is headed for next month.
Coach Dan Mullen is the only first-year FBS head coach to defeat multiple teams ranked in this Tuesday evenings second edition of the 2018 College Football Playoff rankings.
Florida debuted at No. 11 in the College Football Playoff Rankings, but fell to No. 15 following a 38-17 loss to the Missouri Tigers last weekend. The Gators remain in the poll due to those two aforementioned wins over currently-ranked No. 7 LSU and No. 16 Mississippi State.
In his final four seasons at Mississippi State, Mullen guided the Bulldogs to a 10-4 mark in games following a loss, including a 4-0 record in 2015. Florida's head coach will look to improve to 2-1 in that category on Saturday when UF takes on USC.
Mullen has challenged to his team to compete this week and understand that they are playing for something bigger than themselves.
